• TNA Star Injured On WWE TV, Undergoes Surgery

TNA star Elijah, fka Elias during his WWE run, suffered a significant injury during his match on this week’s NXT. The incident occurred when he hit a double knee drop from the top rope—an impact that saw him brace his fall with his arms, leading to a torn triceps. According to Fightful Select, the injury happened in real time during the spot, and he was treated immediately after the match. Interestingly, TNA’s lead ringside physician happened to be visiting NXT that night and worked alongside WWE’s medical team to assess the situation.

Following the diagnosis, Elijah quickly underwent surgery to repair the tear, and the procedure was reportedly successful. There’s no official timetable yet for his return to in-ring action, but the quick response and operation are promising signs for his recovery.

Elijah teamed up with Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura to defeat TNA World Champion Trick Williams, Wes Lee and AJ Francis. Inamura pinned Williams in this match.

• WWE Made Sure MJF Wasn’t Shown During This Week’s RAW

WWE fans tuning into Monday Night RAW this week might have noticed something missing from the Happy Gilmore 2 promotion: MJF. Despite playing one of Happy Gilmore’s sons and making a memorable appearance in the film’s trailer — including a scene where he delivers an elbow drop onto a car — MJF was nowhere to be seen in the version of the trailer shown during RAW. The movie, set to hit Netflix later this summer, includes both MJF and WWE’s Becky Lynch in supporting roles.

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE took steps to make sure MJF wasn’t included in the trailer aired during RAW. They noted that WWE specifically requested a version of the trailer without MJF ahead of the June 16 broadcast. Though no official reason was given, it’s clear WWE didn’t want to give screen time to the AEW star — even in a non-wrestling context.

While Becky Lynch’s role was left untouched, WWE’s decision suggests they’re still cautious about featuring talent from rival promotions during their programming, even when it comes to mainstream crossover projects.

• Original Plan For Mercedes Mone’s First Loss In AEW

Mercedes Moné has been AEW’s most protected star since signing with the promotion, staying undefeated in singles matches. She recently captured the CMLL World Women’s Championship on this week’s Dynamite and is now set to face Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In: Texas. However, according to the Wrestling Observer, AEW once had plans for Moné to lose a match this year. The idea was for her to face ROH Women’s World Champion Athena in the Owen Hart Cup Tournament and lose, setting up a rematch at All In.

Along with a rematch between Mercedes and Athena at All In, AEW also considered booking Toni Storm vs. Mariah May. But when May made it clear she wasn’t renewing her contract—and eventually left for WWE—the company changed direction.

AEW then decided to focus on promoting what they considered the biggest women’s match in company history: Mercedes Moné vs. Toni Storm. With that shift, there was no longer a reason for Moné to lose to Athena in the tournament.

• Big Update On Liv Morgan’s Women’s Tag Team Title Reign

On this week’s RAW, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Liv Morgan got injured during her match against Kairi Sane. Michael Cole announced that Liv suffered a dislocated shoulder. Bodyslam reported that Liv needs surgery and will be out of action for 6 months. This means she’ll miss the rest of 2025. In an update from PWInsider, WWE sources have confirmed that Morgan has been taken off the road and won’t be appearing on TV for the foreseeable future. However, plans for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles are already in place, and as of this morning, the titles are NOT expected to be vacated.

WrestleVotes previously reported that the entire match-card for Evolution 2 has been affected due to Morgan’s injury: “The injury has now caused a lot of the Evolution card to basically be scrapped, be ripped up, and start again from scratch because she was pegged for a big-time tag team match that is not going to happen now. That spot is gonna be filled by someone else and there’s a lot of ripple effects.”

The original plan for Evolution was Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against The Bella Twins (Nikki Bella & Brie Bella). Liv was also involved in a program with Roxanne Perez and Women’s World Champion IYO SKY.

• “Fake and G@y” – SmackDown Star On UFC

Since both WWE and UFC are under the TKO banner, both promotions cross promote events. WWE promoted the upcoming UFC 319 PPV, which will be headlined by Dricus du Plessis (c) vs. Khamzat Chimaev for the UFC Middleweight Championship. SmackDown wrestler Piper Niven wasn’t impressed by this and tweeted the following about UFC: “Fake and g@y.”

This led to a fan tweeting: “Let’s see how your ‘Wrestling’ would do up against Khamzat then.”

Piper replied “No thank you” and tweeted a GIF that read “I play real sports. Not trying to be the best at exercising.”

• Nick Khan Says Fans That Criticize WWE On Social Media Don’t Matter

During an interview on Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast, WWE President Nick Khan explained the company’s creative process: “We encourage our creative team and writers like, don’t program for [fans that criticize the product on social media], program for the universe, not for a small portion of the universe who wants to criticize you. That doesn’t matter. Move on. Put on a good product. The money will be there. The fans will be there. The results will be there.”

Nick also said him and Triple H make mistakes every day, but they have each other’s back: “Triple H and I we make mistakes in business every day, the good thing is we have one-another. We can say, ‘hey, I think I did this, what do you think? I don’t think that was the move, maybe we can think of it the other way, let’s try that.’”

• WWE Wants To Bring Another AAA Star To The Main Roster

WWE may be eyeing one of Lucha Libre AAA’s biggest stars for a major move to its main roster. According to WrestleVotes, the company has “significant interest in making Psycho Clown a prominent part of the main roster.” The report also emphasized WWE’s belief in his marketability. “WWE is intrigued by his character and the marketing abilities attached to it,” they stated.

Psycho Clown has been a central figure in AAA for more than 10 years. He’s known for his colorful mask, high-energy performances, and strong crowd connection. He’s also part of wrestling royalty — the son of Brazo de Plata, famously known as Super Porky, and a member of the Alvarado wrestling family. As previously reported, WWE is also interested in bringing AAA star Mr. Iguana to the main roster.

• “You two did a lot for the women’s division” – Top RAW Star To Bella Twins

Nikki Bella’s recent return to Monday Night RAW included a slip-up when she mispronounced Stephanie Vaquer’s name—but the moment turned out to be more charming than awkward. Bella addressed the flub during a new episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, where she and Brie welcomed Vaquer as a guest. Nikki explained the mispronunciation came from nerves rather than a lack of respect. She said she was just trying to give it some style, but her nerves got the best of her in that moment. Despite the on-air moment becoming a talking point for fans, there’s clearly no hard feelings between them. Vaquer responded graciously and used the opportunity to show admiration for the Bella Twins and what they accomplished during their WWE careers.

“You two did a lot for the women’s division,” Vaquer said on the podcast. “So, for me, it’s important, and I appreciate you. Thank you! Now we can stay here, and for me it’s important to now do something for the next generation and the women’s division to go up more and more.”

• Goldberg Comments On Fans’ Reaction To Him Limping To The Ring On RAW

Goldberg returned on this week’s RAW and was limping to the ring. On The National Football Show, Goldberg said the following about this: “Everybody’s (like), ‘Oh, Goldberg’s limping to the ring. Goldberg’s small! Goldberg’s old!’ I am freaking old! What do you want me to do? Turn the clock back? Show me another 58-year-old dude that’s willing to go out and do this. I mean, there’s a couple. But I’m gonna hopefully surpass their performance. At the end of the day, I gotta surpass my performance in the past.”

Goldberg said he doesn’t care how old he looks. He just wants to put on a better performance than his last match, which was against Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber 2022, where he couldn’t train properly because he had COVID a month before that bout.

“I ain’t freaking going out the way I went out (at Elimination Chamber 2022). Period. End of story. So at 58-years-old, if I have to go in there hobbled, if I have to go in there 30 pounds lighter, I don’t give a sh*t. Because I have a point to make and at 58-years-old, can I still make that point? I don’t know, but, I’m gonna do my best. 50 percent of me is better than 99 percent of the pricks on the planet, I believe, and so if I still give that effort and have the work ethic, though I’m not who I used to be but here I am. I mean, we don’t lose that. It’s a risk, it’s a huge risk.

Am I risking the legacy of Goldberg in the ring? Yeah. Every time you step in there, you risk that. But, it’s risk versus reward and it’s another opportunity to give Gage a platform to see his dad go out and do his thing. I mean, he’s the reason why I came out of retirement in the beginning. 15 years ago or whatever it was for the first time. I’m not doing it for me… I mean, I am partly but, I’m mainly doing it for him.

If they have to drag me out of there or carry me out of there, then that’s fine because I chose to do it and I chose to spend the last 6 months training and preparing for this.”

• Stephanie McMahon Says Vince McMahon Is His Own Biggest Nemesis

On the latest episode of “What’s Your Story?” podcast, Stephanie McMahon and WWE President Nick Khan discussed Vince McMahon. You can read their exchange below:

Stephanie: [Vince’s] mindset was, if he could survive, he won. So just surviving was winning and still is winning for him today. And I don’t know how you can ever beat someone at the end of the day if all they need to do is survive to win.

Nick: So all credit to him. I only have admiration for him. As Triple H said at his Hall of Fame speech, family’s complicated. And, you know, obviously, we don’t need to get into any of that. But in terms of business, that guy’s an empire builder.

Stephanie: Absolutely he is. And no one can take that away from him, no matter what, including himself, who is probably his biggest nemesis — is himself.
