On March 24, 1991 at the WrestleMania VII PPV, WWF Champion Sgt. Slaughter had to defend his World Title against the challenger Hulk Hogan, who had lost the title a year earlier to The Ultimate Warrior, whom Sgt. Slaughter defeated at the 1991 Royal Rumble PPV.
Hulk Hogan won the match after 20 minutes to become the new WWF World Champion.
This match was also based on a very political U.S.A. vs Iraq storyline, which didn’t happen without a lot of controversy.
6. WWF WrestleMania 4
• “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase vs. “The Macho Man” Randy Savage •
On March 27, 1988 at the WrestleMania IV PPV, Randy Savage and Ted Dibiase wrestled each other for the WWF World Championship in the final of a 14 men tournament for the belt.
After already beating Butch Reed, Greg Valentine and One Man Gang in the previous rounds, The Macho Man defeated Ted Dibiase in 9 minutes to become the new WWF World Champion.
