On April 1, 2001 at the WrestleMania X-Seven PPV, WWF Champion The Rock had to defend his World Title in a ‘babyface vs babyface’ No DQ match against the challenger Steve Austin, who won the Royal Rumble earlier that year to earn his shot.
After 28 minutes Steve Austin managed to defeat The Rock, but not without turning heel and getting help from the evil Mr. McMahon, who had been Austins archnemesis for 3 years.
That way Stone Cold became the new WWF World Champion.
