15 Wrestlers Who Retired Way Too Soon

13. CM Punk

By now, everyone is aware of the noise CM Punk has made. He seemingly up and left WWE in January 2014 and never returned, and people constantly attempted to figure out why.

It wasn’t until the end of the year that it was revealed that CM Punk disliked the way he was used and the mistreatment of him backstage, by peers, management and medical personnel.

Following this, he took a break from WWE and was never asked to return, and was then fired, about one year ago today. CM Punk refused to return to wrestling due to the utter disdain for it, and has since branched off to UFC, where he will have his first fight in 2016.

12. AJ Lee

Speaking of CM Punk, his spouse AJ Lee retired about a week after WrestleMania 31, very surprisingly. AJ was revitalizing the Women’s division, along with Paige and other athletes that transformed WWE’s divas into role models who could actually wrestle, which is what fans barely got in the past 6 or 7 years earlier.

AJ, fresh off a victory over the divas champion at WrestleMania, retired out of the blue days later. Reason being apparently due to several lawsuits being filed by WWE to her husband, CM Punk, and she wanted to defend her husband. Rumors circulate that she was being shunned backstage because of her relationship with Punk, however, we do not know the confirmed story… yet.
