5 Title Matches That Are Expected To Take Place At Royal Rumble 2020

Brock Lesnar Royal Rumble 2019

1. Brock Lesnar vs. Ricochet – WWE Championship Match

As we noted in one of our previous article, to make fans forget about the Hell In A Cell 2019 main event disaster, Vince McMahon decided to move Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt to SmackDown in hopes of the gimmick getting a reboot there and Seth Rollins remaining on RAW.

With the Universal Champion being moved to SmackDown, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar was moved to RAW. This worked out in the sense that Brock Lesnar already had a feud with Rey Mysterio on RAW, so him coming to RAW made sense.

However, this resulted in a major feud getting cancelled.

According to The Dirty Sheets, Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship was planned for Royal Rumble 2020, but that won’t be happening anymore since Lesnar is on RAW and Bryan is on SmackDown.

To make up for this, Bryan was put in a Universal Title feud with The Fiend on SmackDown.

With that being said, RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman wants to feature former United States Champion Ricochet in a match with “The Beast” at a major PPV and with plans for Lesnar vs. Bryan being nixed, it looks like Ricochet could end up being the one to face Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2020.

Speaking of the Royal Rumble, Lesnar successfully defended the Universal Championship against Finn Balor (who is similar to Ricochet’s size and has a similar wrestling style as well) at Royal Rumble 2019.
