7. Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin – RAW (December 2018)

Finn Balor vs Baron Corbin - WWE RAW

Finn Balor was taking on Baron Corbin and his allies at the same time, when Corbin was serving as the General Manager of RAW. The December of 2018 was pretty strange as many wrestlers were out of action due to an unknown illness.

Unfortunately, one of them was Finn Balor. He was pulled from WWE’s South American tour and also the Mixed Match Challenge, but rumors were going around that he was off WWE programming due to an injury.

He was scheduled to face Baron Corbin on an episode of RAW, but got replaced by Seth Rollins. Everyone thought that he was injured, but PWInsider later confirmed that Balor was unable to compete due to an illness.

The former Universal Champion was lucky enough to recover in time to compete in his scheduled match against Drew McIntyre at TLC 2018.

6. Lars Sullivan vs. John Cena – WrestleMania 35

John Cena vs. Lars Sullivan - WWE WrestleMania 35

WWE had advertised the debut of several NXT Superstars on the main roster at the end of 2018 to tackle with low TV ratings. The list included Ricochet, Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Aleister Black, EC3, Lacey Evans and Lars Sullivan.

Sullivan was considered a big deal which is why he was given separate TV time through his vignettes. All of the advertised Superstars showed up after Elimination Chamber 2019, but The Freak did not show up until after WrestleMania.

The original plan for Sullivan was to attack John Cena on an episode of RAW in January to set up a match with him at WrestleMania 35. However, the whole angle was scrapped due to Sullivan’s health issues, and Cena ended up working a segment with Elias at the Show Of Shows.

Sullivan suffered major anxiety attacks, leading to his match with Cena being cancelled, and his debut being delayed.
