On an episode of his weekly ‘The Kurt Angle Show’ podcast, our Olympic Hero talked to his former WWE/TNA colleague Mr. Kennedy aka Mr. Anderson and they spoke about the reasons why TNA never managed to chase WWE or at least come close to doing so.

By 2010, Dixie Carter’s ‘Total Nonstop Action!’ had an absolutely great roster of talent, featuring major Legends & Veterans paired with talented TNA Originals.

That star-studded roster included ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, Sting, Ric Flair, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam, Jeff Jarrett, Sean Waltman, Raven, Rhino, Mr. Anderson, Sabu, Bobby Lashley, Jeff Hardy, Tommy Dreamer, AJ Styles, The Sandman, Val Venis and more.

So on paper, they were far superior – at least that year – to what WWE could bring to the table in 2010, and they also had an awesome product that fans world wide really enjoyed, but for whatever reason, TNA failed to come close to WWE’s numbers, despite even going as far as to start a new Monday Night War for several weeks.

Here’s what the two WWE/TNA Veterans had to say, while discussing the reasons:

Mr. Anderson:

“I always think there’s a possibility, right? I think that was what was so cool about working there.”

Kurt Angle:

“Now, me, I was more realistic. I thought we were special to begin with. I just didn’t think we’d ever be able to beat WWE. We just didn’t have the money.

The money was going because we were trying to compete with WWE. We should’ve went at our own pace, at least for a few more years.”
