New Jack wrestled for Jim Cornette’s Smoky Mountain Wrestling between 1994 & 1995 but he’s mostly remembered for his time in Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling from 1995 to 2001.

In ECW, New Jack became synonymous for his extreme Hardcore style, including dives from balconies and similar high risk maneuvers.

During a recent episode of his weekly ‘Something To Wrestle With’ podcast, Bruce Prichard revealed that WWE actually discussed bringing him in to feud with John Cena in late 2004.

Here’s what the former Brother Love had to say:

“There was definitely talks of New Jack. I don’t think anybody wanted to touch him because of his reputation and unpredictability.

But, yes, it may have been during this time that he was actually discussed, but never to the point of ‘Alright, who is gonna go pitch that one to Vince?’.

The reputation preceded itself.”

Bruce then added that he even involved Paul Heyman and asked him about his former ECW Wrestler:

“Paul was like ‘Okay, you may get your controversy, but it may not be the kind of controversy you really want to have’.”

New Jack would have been brought in during John Cena’s feud with Carlito Caribbean Cool, where Cena was (kayfabe) stabbed by an unknown attacker at a Boston night club.

In the end, WWE decided against bringing in New Jack and instead revealed Jesús (Aaron Aguilera) as the person who stabbed Cena.
