5. Paul Orndorff Piledriver
In the 1980s probably no other move looked as lethal as the piledriver. Turning an opponent upside-down and driving them head-first into the canvas would easily be enough to permanently disable a person. For this reason many proponents of the piledriver would gently fall to the mat, obviously protecting their opponent.
Not so with Paul Orndorff, who swiftly and maliciously dropped butt-first, making his piledriver look all but fatal. That he never managed to injure anyone (except himself in 2000) is pretty miraculous. This move was utterly frightening to me as a kid.
