8. A Macho Marriage – SummerSlam 1991
A non-wrestling segment filled up a large part of SummerSlam 1991. With Randy Savage recently ‘retired’ following his loss at WrestleMania VII, the storyline switched to focus on his personal life, mostly including his relationship with Miss Elizabeth.
They (kayfabe) married in SummerSlam 1991, being one of the first of these instances to happen. Carnage managed to follow due to Jake Roberts and Undertaker, but it was a lovely moment that people remember following Randy’s death in 2011.
7. TLC – SummerSlam 2000
Another example of the big blow-off match to end a feud and another example of how a ladder match can add emotion to the fire that is wrestling, it is one of the most talked about matches ever, Tables, Ladders and Chairs: Part I.
Edge and Christian defeated The Hardy Boyz and the Dudley Boyz in an extreme WWF Tag Team Championship match which highlighted all of the teams signature weapons. There isn’t much to say about this match, it really is needed to be seen to be believed. The lengths these men go through is incredible and puts to shame any ladder matches in the past 5 years.
