3. Ultimate Warrior vs. Honky Tonk Man – SummerSlam 1988
There has always been debate on who the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time is. Some say Savage, Jericho or Austin, but mostly people will say the Honky Tonk Man.
With a reign of 454 days, the Honky-Tonk Man is the longest reigning champion of all time, and when SummerSlam 1988 came around, it didn’t seem as if the reign will cease. His original opponent, Brutus Beefcake was scheduled to face Honky, yet due to an injury, Ultimate Warrior accepted the challenge as a mystery opponent and defeated the longest IC Champion in about 30 seconds as the crowd goes wild!
It was an amazing moment that defined the Ultimate Warrior’s energetic and powerful persona, which allowed him to captivate audiences and capture the WWF Championship a year-and-a-half later. This is the most memorable moment of the first ever SummerSlam in history.
