HOGAN RADIO INTERVIEW
Friday morning, Jan. 17 Chicago’s Rock 103.5 interviewed Hulk Hogan hyping Nitro at United Center. Hogan said: “I’ll tell you the deal. When I was talking to Ted Turner the other day. And Ted Turner admitted that Ric Flair is nothing but a mid-card at best wrestler. He had his day, it’s over, it’s Hollywood time. If you can’t dig it, man, why don’t you go watch those kids who are wrestling in the WWF, those minor leaguers. They’re having a lot of personal problems. That’s what’s going on. Where Hollywood goes, that’s where the money goes. Where Hollywood goes, that’s where the talent goes. Nothing’s changed. This is the ’90s and I’m trying to beat it to the punch. Don’t you realize in the ’90s everybody’s taking the shortcuts? I don’t want anyone cutting my legs out from under me. I want to survive. Let’s reminisce and step back in time. Let’s say our prayers, train, and eat our vitamins and let everybody pick-pocket us while we’re reminiscing, okay, you idiot. Can you dig it? I guarantee ya’ (United Center) will be sold out. When you come to the Pavilion, you’ll be reminiscing about the red and yellow and the good old days of being a nice guy. Just check out the crowd, check out everybody who’s got the NWO shirts on, check out the black and white that’s right. Check it out. Are you upset?
“(The Giant) couldn’t run with the dogs. He couldn’t rise to the level. We left him lying like the piece of crap he is. I treated him just like his father. Because of Hollywood Hogan we get the best ratings show on cable TV. Because of Hollywood Hogan, Ted Turner is making five times as much money as he did before I came there. We are on a roll…. When I quit wrestling for a couple of years, the ratings hit an all-time low. Now that I’m back in the saddle, now that I’m the lead dog, now that Hollywood prevails, brother check the numbers out. Piper is an old man with a plastic hip. The only thing the Macho Man had that I wanted was his wife and I took her and I’m done with her, too. End of story.”
