Eric Bischoff returned from vacation in France and showed signs he is frustrated with the direction of WCW, but wants to take a nice-guy approach to making changes. When he was in France, he checked in with someone to see how Nitro went on Mar. 15. He was told it was one of the best shows in a while. Later he talked to several others who were more honest (or perceptive) and was told it was an embarrassment. He was said to be extremely cordial with the wrestlers in his return to work this Monday on Nitro, perhaps out of exhaustion and frustration with the last year of WCW. Most are saying he is very burned out on wrestling and aren’t sure whether a week away was enough time off for him to recharge his batteries. Some fear that Kevin Nash is taking advantage of Bischoff because Bischoff is so burned out (and embarassed by the losses to Raw) and doesn’t seem to have the energy to care about wrestling like he has for the last five years. Bischoff is telling people he is willing to stand by whatever Nash does at this point, but has also told confidants he feels Nash is falling flat on his face thus far. Bischoff also recognizes the irony of Nash putting over his friends when one of the reasons he asked for the job was due to being frustrated with Hulk Hogan trying to get his (Hogan’s) friends over at the expense of others. The latest complaint about Nash by different wrestlers is that he likes to schedule commercials during non-friends’ matches.
