The History Of The nWo

The media stories on wrestling are triggering responses by some big names. While Vince McMahon was defending the content of the WWF in a letter written to the New York Daily News, Eric Bischoff was telling listeners during a radio interview not to confuse WCW with the WWF. Bischoff said borderline interviews like Scott Steiner has done lately wouldn¡¦t be allowed anymore and he sent a memo to WCW employees saying Nitro would essentially become a ¡§G-rated¡¨ show to separate themselves from the backlash against the WWF.

Kevin Nash, on his website, penned an article responding to the criticism of wrestling. He said the mainstream media is attacking wrestling to try to bring it down now that it has become so popular. He defended wrestling¡¦s influence on kids. He said when he was a kid, he and his friends would tackle each other after watching an NFL game, so why complain now that they are pretending to wrestle instead? He said parents should spend more time with kids and less time at work trying to earn enough to buy a luxury car. He said NYPD Blue is more risque than Nitro. He said that Raw does take things too far and asked that people not confuse the subtly of Nitro with the overtness of Raw. He concluded that society is decaying, but wrestling isn’t causing it, it¡¦s merely reflecting it.
