Sources confirm Scott Hall was sent home for disciplinary reasons. As reported last week, Scott Hall had a confrontation with Goldberg stemming from a “survey” which Hall conducted about Goldberg during a promo that elicited a babyface pop for Hall. Since last week’s issue went to press, we have learned that management told Hall not to perform the survey as part of his promo. Hall went against those orders and included the survey anyway. In addition to Goldberg confronting him (during which Goldberg told Hall next time he pulls something like that, he’ll run down the ramp and kick his ass in the ring), Hall got into a screaming match with members of management. Vince Russo was not part of the argument. Sources indicate Hall ruffled enough feathers that when word reached head of Turner Entertainment Brad Siegel, he ordered Hall be pulled off of TV indefinitely. Hall was too injured to wrestle due to a knee injury, but was willing make on-camera appearances as part of the NWO. Hall will have his knee checked by Dr. Jim Andrews on Jan. 10.
Despite a recent memo which threatened fines due to tardiness, sources report that only mid- and lower-level talent are forced to adhere to the policy. Not surprisingly, many of the top names continue to show up late, often without any verbal reprimand from management. Bret Hart held up filming of the NWO angle where Sid attacked him backstage because he was hours late…
There was talk in WCW that Eric Bischoff met with Siegel within the last two weeks. No one who knows is saying what the meeting was about. It could have concerned Bischoff returning to an on-air role with the new NWO. (How ironic would it be to have Bischoff aligned with Russo on the air?) It could also have simply been an update on his status with Turner Broadcasting and whether he is going to be re-assigned or given a severance package… One source this week said that at least one wrestler has been contacted regarding his availability to be part of a Hogan/Fox start-up promotion…
