Goldberg will miss about a month of in-ring action while recovering from the cut on his arm. The severe cut was to his right forearm area. He underwent surgery Tuesday night and the cut required more than two dozen stitches. The cut is now wrapped with a soft cast. There was a nick to one of his tendons, but he never lost feeling in his arm or fingers. The punch aired on Thunder on Thursday with blood splattering all over the hood of the limo.
It is Goldberg’s frustration with the way things are going in WCW that has led to him being very “on edge” in the ring and outside of the ring. Scott Hall made remarks about Goldberg during a promo that Goldberg interpreted as shoot comments. The comments were apparently made during one of Hall’s signature “surveys” which Goldberg believed made him look bad. While the interview was taking place in the ring, Goldberg listened backstage and then began to throw a fit in front of everyone. He said something to the effect of, “If they want to shoot, I’ll got to the f—in’ ring and shoot!” The comments never made the air as they were edited from the show. Sources say not only did Goldberg throw a fit backstage, but he also confronted Hall about the comments and let it be known he was willing to fight if necessary. Sources say Hall backed down immediately and apologized, saying he won’t make similar comments in the future. Hall reportedly was not allowed to appear on Nitro this week because of the content of his interview, much of which was edited off of Thunder when it aired last week. Hall is against the NWO being full-fledged heels, whereas Nash is willing to because he realizes WCW needs strong heels to face Goldberg.
Sources say Goldberg is becoming more and more disenchanted with how WCW is handling his push. He is being told the Starrcade finish and the subsequent formation of the NWO were done to help establish him as the top star in the company. He believes Bret Hart is getting a rub from the angles, not him. WCW sources say Goldberg has reason to be paranoid because he has gotten so much bad advice in the past two years from supposed friends of his in the company, but that the NWO is being set up to establish some strong heels for him to feud with. If Goldberg becomes even more disenchanted with Russo, it would not be surprising to see him take his time recovering from his arm injury. Months ago, Goldberg took a stand against WCW management by sitting out because he didn’t feel he was being paid enough.
