The History Of The nWo

Kevin Nash and X-Pac’s frustration with the booking of the NWO came to a head at Raw last week. When the plans for Nash on that episode came across as if they were attempting to turn him babyface, they expressed disagreement to TV writers. Vince McMahon wasn’t around because he was on location that afternoon filming the Steve Austin-Eddie Guerrero karaoke bar skit. X-Pac eventually threatened to quit. He went so far as to get his bags and walk out. Nash then said if X-Pac quit, he didn’t want to stick around either. Shane McMahon then intervened and talked through the situation. By the time Raw went on the air, a lot had been accomplished. Nash and X-Pac helped rewrite their segments, but it only took tweaking, not an overhaul of what was planned. They also reached a truce with Brian Gewertz about future potential disputes. Nash and X-Pac argued that when the WWF had the most success, the writers called wrestlers days before TV events to talk about the plans, but that hadn’t been happening lately. Apparently all parties agreed to discuss plans for TV as soon as possible so they could all contribute to the storylines without having to make haphazard last-second rewrites.
